Supplied with a coat of Teak oil for a glossy look from new, no treatment is required on these oak gates as the timber gets harder as it dries out, you may add any non-sealant colourant in the future if the natural silvery colour of oak isnt to your taste. **Please note the swept heel is a weakpoint on this design gate, the grain on the curve is vertical therefore can be prone to splitting, this does not affect the strength of the gate but is a symptom of owning an oak gate over softwood. Also at this length the first few weeks of hanging are vital, if you notice any twisting then the gate must be pulled back in the opposite direction until it settles, it always helps to support each corner of the swinging end for a few days after hanging just in case.
